How on Earth?

Collections that are oh so cute and seemed like such good ideas at the time. Now which ones to say goodbye to and which ones to save. These remain, patiently awaiting my decision.

I love the little globes. Especially the walkie one. How many do you have?

And I know exactly what you mean about collecting. So far I've amassed over 60 Statue of Liberties (not to mention ephemera) and a couple dozen miniature pianos. I'm heading to a Hallmark store this week to get this years ornament. No, I don't collect Hallmark ornaments. This year's is a player piano that plays several tunes while the "pump" pedals go up and down.

A collection I'm considering for the future is of old Jack-in-the-boxes.

I guess I have a couple of dozen globes and globe-like objects. Sadly my real obsessive collection was bendable, posable figures. But they are now mostly in boxes. I think that when I have an idea for a collection I should just say 'great idea, would be brilliant' and not go there. I managed to do that with fake food. Nipped that one in the bud.

Yum, fake food! In the early '80's my ex and I made all the fake candy for the window display for a local candy store. Loads of fun making it and even more fun when customers wanted it rather than real candy in the store. We actually had one lady who insisted it looked tastier!

The only vestiges I have from the time of fake food are a piece of chocolate cake, a bowl of plaster pastry and one glass candy. I gave away some other stuff. But I THOUGHT about including these high quality fake foods you can buy, ebay stuff and kid's toy fake food (very interesting stuff like fake McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts). No more collecting. None. Nope.
